Hello Church!

I’m Sarah Shen and I have been attending Garden City for almost 9 years. In pre-Covid days, you may have seen me out at the Connections table on Sundays. 

I’m a California native and grew up in San Jose. Childhood memories include riding the Caltrain up to San Francisco for baseball games and shopping, exploring downtown San Jose, and hiking at Rancho San Antonio. While the Bay Area has grown and changed, I am fortunate to still be able to visit so many of my favorite spots. It’s so hard to choose a favorite, so a few of my favorite places lately- coffee at Great Bear in Los Gatos, a cheese waffle from Living Room in Campbell, and hiking at Foothills Park in Los Altos.

In a year that has felt isolating, I have been thankful for and encouraged by my Life Group. The consistency of meeting, whether virtual or in-person, was a blessing. Our conversations and prayers always encourage me. A Life Group highlight from this past year was a backyard lunch and cider tasting. We haven’t gone many places together this year, but our Life Group has hung out in each other’s backyard A LOT. Enjoying a meal and each other’s company, while simple, was life-giving. While I look forward to the day where things return to normal, these backyard gatherings have been fun.
